The lack of accountability throughout the federal justice system is truly terrifying. Most citizens would be outraged were they to learn of it, but most criminal-justice reporters are too reliant on leaks and tips from the Justice Department to let slip how the sausage is made.
That is sad but unsurprising. It reminds me of the system of peer-reviewed research. Sometimes it works, but other times it's corrupt and dysfunctional.
Nowadays more often the latter than the former, I fear. The amount of time required for me to sift through poorly or asininely constructed studies has steadily increased over the last 20 years. The research around vaping, for instance, is more usually unreliable than reliable.
Prosecutorial overreach to say the least. It's so wrong that this much power is concentrated in the hands of such unethical individuals.

Interesting. I've never looked into the research on vaping.
